| | Description | A good starter machine for garment construction and mending, this sewing machine from Brother includes 25 built-in stitches. These range from zigzag to shell tuck to blind hem settings, and there's also an automatic four-step buttonhole function. In addition, a twin needle setting lets you sew a double line with two colors of thread for a smart decorative touch. The machine's design and features are straightforward and user-friendly, with some settings--stitch length and width--automatically set for simplified operation. It also sews in reverse and has dial-adjusted tension for tidy work. Sophisticated home tailors will find this machine too basic, but occasional and beginning sewers should get plenty of use from it and not much frustration.
Threading the machine is fairly simple, and winding the bobbin is speedy. The sewing machine's work surface switches from flat to free arm for cuffs and pant legs, and the interchangeable feet have a snap-on construction. An integrated storage area keeps extra feet, needles, and bobbins tidy. Built with a handle and a work light for ease and convenience, the sewing machine comes with a zipper foot, a buttonhole foot, a button-sewing foot, a set of needles, a twin needle, a set of bobbins, and a darning plate. Brother includes a 1-year warranty. | |

simple and easy Mar 02, 2005
By Opinion I can only sew with a basic ability. I needed a machine to save time on basic repairs and very simple projects that took too long to sew by hand. This machine was very easy to learn and use. I am not overwhelmed with options that I dont know how to use anyway. I have only run into a few problem (all caused by me) and I was able to figure out what I had done wrong easily. It is a great machine for learning or for someone who only needs to sews on occasion.

Inexpensive machine that works! Jan 16, 2005

We bought this sewing machine for a child. I hadn't seen any other reviews, so I bought it thinking it might go back. I am happy to say that it works very well. It would be suitable for a beginning sewer-child or adult. It has a nice range of stitches and all the standard features that you might look for in a basic sewing machine.
For the money, this machine works fine. It can easily be used for projects such as making clothes, curtains, and alterations. It's a good basic machine for a child to learn on. I'd pay the extra $20. and bypass getting a "toy" sewing machine. They don't work very well and make for a very frustrating experience.

Quick and Easy... Jul 17, 2005

I bought this mainly for hemming my own pants. Figuring that I would spend roughly $10US to get my pants hemmed by someone else, I decided I would just buy an inexpensive sewing machine and do it my self -I mean after ten pairs of pants, it's paid for itself, right?
So I did, I bought the Brother LS-2125 and now I hem my own pants, and can complete some upholstery projects I've been working on.
In the past, I've heard horror stories about many inexpensive sewing machines, and I wasn't ready to drop $400US or more on one, so I figured I'd give this one a try on whim -and now I am very happy with my LS-2125 as I've had no problems that weren't my own fault (RTFM).
And as someone who hasn't used a sewing machine in over 20 years (my grandmother taught me when I was a kid) I can honestly say that I would reccomend this as a beginner's sewing machine.
As a side note, now my girlfriend wants me to hem her pants (and some of my friends have offered to pay me to hem their pants too...).

Very pleased - used this machine to piece my quilt blocks Nov 01, 2005
By Erin Marie While I didn't NEED to buy a sewing machine for the quilting class I'm taking, I never seemed to be able to finish my blocks during class so I purchased this machine to work on them at home. I'm very pleased with it. I never used a sewing machine in my life until now. I was so overwhelmed at the thought of buying one - so I picked this one based on the price and previous 5-star reviews.
Being that I only need to stitch a straight line to piece my blocks (just to clarify - I am NOT using this for quilting stitches, just the piecing), a basic machine is all I needed. It didn't take long for me, a complete novice when it comes to sewing, to start piecing my blocks. The instruction book is thorough and includes diagrams that were helpful in figuring out where everything goes & what it all does. I was up & sewing in about 30 minutes. I really love this machine!

Great Little Machine Aug 10, 2005

I recently purchased this wonderful machine after having my old one for the past 20 years. My old one was a Singer and had cost more when new than this one. The new one has twice as many features and is just so easy to work with. I am a novice when it comes to sewing, using the machine for minor repairs and alterations.
I will certainly be using this one more frequently! This price was the cheapest on the net and in retail.
Thanks,
Abbey McLeod
